Smart Air Quality Monitoring and Control in Subway System
|
Organizer |
Duckshin Park |
Korea Railroad Research Institute, Korea |
PM is a major pollutant in subway stations that is known to be generated from various factors such as subway train operation, passenger movement, and the inflow of outside air through the ventilation system. Epidemiological studies show that exposure to PM is highly hazardous to the body, since it raises the sensible pollution level and along with it is the possible occurrence of disease and death rates. As PM concentrations measured in subways are generally higher and more toxic than those in the air, they play a major role in deteriorating subway air quality and as such require proper control. |

Research and Implementation of SKIP-STOP Operation
|
Organizer |
Suk-Mun Oh |
Korea Railroad Research Institute, Korea |
Recently, Korean government proceeds a project to restore skip-stop operation from the existing all-stop operation in the urban railway in order to improve the average speed of the trains. However, there are many constraints to be overcome not only in infrastructure but operating systems.
This session is aimed to assist the project in academic side. First, the Japanese speaker is expected to have plentiful research experience on this topic from the huge size of Japanese railways. Second, the Chile speaker may address A/B skip-stop operation of Santiago metro, which is a unique one in the modern urban railway. Third, the Chinese speaker may introduce various future plan based on the various field projects to be implemented in China. |
